VR HMD

Soundscape 2026 is built for Steam Frame. For legacy devices, Soundscape 2024 offers support across a wider range of devices like the Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift S, and Meta Quest. We recommend updating your Nvidia/AMD drivers to the most recent version as outdated drivers are the most common cause of issues with UE5.

TROUBLESHOOTING AUDIO ISSUES

Soundscape and Sonic AI systems rely on data being passed from Windows over WASAPI. While Soundscape is running, Sonic AI is always listening for any incoming audio information and ready to react. When Windows fails to work as expected, try the following steps:

  • Open “System Sounds” in Windows and make sure your audio output is set correctly, generally speakers or a HMD set to default device.
  • Open Steam VR and verify your audio output and input are set correctly, try audio mirroring.
  • Disable Oculus Audio as it can hijack your system sounds.
  • Update all audio drivers
  • Make sure your volume is turned up
  • Make sure your mic is not hijacking your input
  • Try updating to a modern version of Windows.
  • Change the Audio Setting in Soundscape from System to Microphone. This means that Sonic AI will listen for audio input from whatever mic is set as your input device instead. Most modern HMDs have mics built into them, so this setting is a great backup to enable Soundscape to work easily with any music being played in a room, or at a live event.
RECOMMENDED SETTINGS

Set desktop scaling to 100 in Windows System Settings
Set “Smooth motion” off in Steam VR
Set Audio Output to your preferred device (headphones, speakers, VR HMD)
